Suggested Clothing And Equipment List
Shomrei Adamah & Shomrei Chayyot - 4 Day Residential
Please send students with clean but old clothing. New clothing may look like old clothing when children get home. Clothing should be marked with the student's name. They should be prepared for cold nights.
- Sleeping Bag (or sheets and 2 blankets)
- pillow and pillowcase
- 2 pairs of pants (Jeans are not ideal because, once wet, they retain water for a long time. The best pant materials are wool and synthetics.)
- 1 heavy shirt (preferably wool or fleece)
- 3 t-shirts
- 1 sweater or sweatshirt (preferably wool or fleece)
- 1 pair pajamas
- 3 changes underwear
- 1 winter jacket
- 1 pair of long underwear NOT made of cotton (silk and polypropelene are best)
- 1 warm stocking hat
- 3 pairs heavy socks (wool is preferable)
- 1 pair (old) sneakers
- 1 pair sturdy, well-broken-in boots (waterproof)
- 1 raincoat or poncho with a hood (a must!)
- Gloves and scarf
- toilet kit: soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush, plastic drinking cup
- towel
- laundry bag (or extra pillowcase)
- pens, pencils
- sock liners or plastic baggies to be worn between socks and shoe/boot to keep feet warmer and drier
- daypack/knapsack
- canteen or water bottle (make sure the lid closes tightly - bottles with straws are no good)
- kippah

A NOTE ON CLOTHING: To the extent possible, please do not bring cotton clothes. Instead, bring clothes made of wool, fleece or polypropylene.
