Tikkun Tip #2

Turn off Water while Brushing teeth

Shalom and welcome to the first installment of the Teva Learning Center's TikkunTips! Tikkun Olam means, "to repair the world." How does one repair the world? It all begins with our actions and that is exactly what these weekly tips will focus on. The TikkunTips that we will be sending you are ones that are easy to do and really do help save the planet! If you already do what we suggest, keep up the good work!

“Do not pour out water which others may need.” –Babylonian Talmud, YeVamot 11b

On average, each time you brush your teeth, with the water flowing, five gallons of water is wasted. On average, with the water off, only a half of a gallon of water is used. The fact is, 97% of the Earth’s water comprises the Earth’s oceans. The other 3% is in the polar ice caps, glaciers, lakes, rivers, streams, or polluted. Only 1% of that 3% is accessible and drinkable by us, that means only .03% of all of the water in the ENTIRE WORLD, is drinkable! So we can see that saving water is tremendously important. Please feel free to refer others to our website so that they might also be able to take part in helping to fix the planet Earth.
