Buying Organics Made Easy

"Soil is the stage from which all things- good, beautiful, vicious, creative, dull, outrageious, and evil- emerge. A teaspoon of living earth contains five million bacteria, twenty million fungi, one million protozoa, and two thousand algae. Amoebas slide over sand grains hunting bacteria. Bacteria swim through microworms like soil hyenas, devouring almost anything. There are about 9,500 kinds of soil in the United States and no one has ever tried to create sanctuaries for any of them." -Peter Warshall, The Whole Earth Catalogue

"A mist ascended from the earth and watered the whole surface of the soil. And Hashem God formed the man of dust from the ground, and He blew into his nostrils the sould of life; and man became a living being." -Bereishis 2:6-7

PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE LAND USE BY PURCHASING ORGANIC FOOD PRODUCTS!

The Organic Foods Production Association defines "organic food" as follows: "organic foods are foods produced under a system of ecological soil management that relies on building humus levels through crop rotation, recycling organic wastes, applying balanced mineral amendments, and using varieties resistant to disease and pests....Organic foods are processed, packaged, transported, and stored to retain maximum nutritional value without the use of artificial preservatives, coloring or additives, irradiation or synthetic pesticides."

Organic food production promotes healthy soil because it does not use chemicals. Pesticides kill not only unwanted bugs that eat the crops, but also healthy bacterias and such that are needed for soil to function properly.
