Teva-Thon 2006 - A Season of Abundance

Dear Friends of Teva,

Our 2006 Teva-Thon Campaign is underway! To date, we have raised $3,349.00 and are thankful to everyone who has contributed so far. We need YOUR help to get us to our goal of $17,000.00. Make a donation

We feel that the Teva-Thon gives us an opportunity to let you know how we are doing and what we are working towards.

This new school year is Teva’s Bar Mitzvah year! For thirteen years we have been the foremost model for Jewish Environmental Education in the world, and we are stronger than ever.

  • 78% of Reform, Conservative and Progressive Orthodox Day Schools in the Northeastern United States attend Teva Learning Center programs such as Shomrei Adamah, Shomrei Chayyot and Achdoot.
  • Participation in the residential programs has increased by 50% over the past 6 years.
  • 89% of Day Schools that have ever been to Teva are still coming back, year after year.

This amazing rate of retention and growth is just one indication of the success of our work.

Positive messages from principals, parents and returning teachers also confirm the impact that our program has. One teacher told us, “You truly created the ideal learning environment. If more learning followed your model, the world would be a much better place.”

And a principal, who is also a parent of a child who attended Teva, wrote this note:

“My daughter Yael, returned home this evening from her four days at TEVA with the Saligman Middle School and she was crying! Why, you might ask?? She loved it so much that she didn't want to leave! As our students got off the bus tonight, the utter delight upon their faces was so evident. They all asked to go back. They all said that they wished they could have stayed for longer…”

Your donations have helped us create transformative Jewish experiences in for the past 13 years. Please continue to help by making a donation today.

What’s next for Teva?

In addition to our thriving Day School program, Teva has been growing our options in Congregational Education. This includes working with students and families in indoor classroom settings and retreat shabbaton settings. These programs are far reaching and have the capacity to bring Teva energy and curriculum to a wider audience of children, families and educators. So far, Teva has 22 organizations returning for Teva Congregational Education programs on a regular basis. This is only a fraction of the number of organizations we could be reaching with the right resources.

This is where we need your help. Teva’s goal is to make the Congregational Education program as successful as our Day School program. In order to achieve this goal, we need funding for curriculum development and staff training, in addition to program costs. Our Congregational Education program has enormous potential for growth and impact on the communities in the Northeastern United States and beyond.

Be a part of Teva’s exciting Congregational Education initiative. Make a donation today. Help make the Jewish community a leader in maintaining healthy ecosystems for future generations.

From our sukkah to yours, we wish you a season of joy and abundance. As we look up at the star-filled sky through sheltering branches, in the company of friends, family, and all of Creation, may we experience true gratitude for our nourishing, life-sustaining, and fragile home.

Chag Sameach,

Nili Simhai, Director,
And all the staff of the Teva Learning Center
