Help Teva Teach the Children
Shalom and welcome to Tikkun Tips. A nugget of Eco-Jewish thought from your friends at the Teva Learning Center.
“And you shall teach them to your children when at home and when away, as you go to sleep and as you wake up.” Deuteronomy 6:6
Our fall season is in full swing, with hundreds of children each week learning Jewish environmental values from morning to night. The staff is fantastic, as always, and they are changing children’s lives daily. (Visit www.tevacenter.org/parents.asp to see pictures.)
Now we need your help to keep this exciting organization going and growing. Please support Teva-thon 2005, our annual appeal to the people who care about Jewish and/or environmental education. Visit www.tevacenter.org/support.asp
for more information or to donate online.
We only ask one time a year, and, in keeping with our environmental goals, we limit our paper mailings to a very few people. This is your only chance to be a part of our unique and important mission.
This Tikkun Tips list has over 700 dedicated individuals signed on. Throughout the year we provide you with great tips for change in your life and your community, all from a Torah perspective. This is the one time of year we ask something of you. If 200 people give $54 today, we could meet our goal and be able to go back to what we do best - educating the Jewish world about our responsibility to God's Creation. (Imagine what we could do if everyone gave; or if just a few gave between $180 and $5000!)
The Teva Learning Center is dedicated to teaching people b'shivtecha b'veitecha (when at home) u'vlechtecha baderech (and when away). Donations from this year will be used to support these initiatives back at "home":
- Expansion of Shabbaton programming for congregational schools and family groups, bringing the Teva experience to thousands of children and adults who to date have not had access to Teva’s inspirational programming.
- The “Bringing It Back to Our School” program, in which Teva staff support the implementation of environmental change projects in the schools
We will send you one of our great thank-you gifts for your donation. Consider donations as Chanukka gifts this year. We can send an acknowledgement and your thank-you gift to anyone you want.
The Teva Learning Center is teaching students how to grapple with the questions of belief, science and ethics that underlie our daily choices. The skills they learn will help the next generation make choices that will sustain our planet well beyond our lifetime. Much like the adage, "teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime,” teach the children the beauty of Creation and they will savor it for a lifetime.
Please help make this a reality. Go to www.tevacenter.org/support.asp to make an online donation or mail a check to The Teva Learning Center, 307 7th Avenue, Suite 900, New York, NY, 10001
Thank You.
