Recycle!
In today's day and age it is amazing to think that many people do not recycle! The Environmental Protection Agency determined that "if the United States recycled all of the recyclable glass, aluminum, paper, and plastic it would otherwise trash in a landfill, we would save the equivalent of 10.1 billion gallons of gasoline, enough to fill the tanks of 15.4 million cars for a year," (source: "Save Our Planet" by Diane MacEachern).
The benefits of recycling are astounding! Recycling reduces the amount resources that we need to take from the earth to produce those products and it also reduces the amount of land we need for our trash by keeping those recyclable products out of the landfills.
Unfortunately, not all communities recycle all recyclable products. So be in touch with your municipality to determine what can in fact be recycled!
